At George Varneys, we pride ourselves on our high quality, nationwide, transport service and our dynamic approach to transport solutions.
Our services began, and are predominantly in the grain and animal feed industry; George Varneys was even featured collecting grain from Diddly Squat Farm on Clarkson’s Farm Season 3. As we have evolved to meet industry demand and customer needs, we now transport a varied selection of products on demand; there is no job too big or small.
TASCC SERVICES
TASCC stands for Trade Assurance Scheme for Combinable Crops, and provides a standard for the transport and storage of crops and animal feeds to maintain traceability and responsible handling of these commodities.
This scheme protects both human and animal health, through the implementation of safe practices, to provide an assured supply chain of these products.
We currently posses approximately 50 modern agriculture TASCC registered trailers that enable us to deliver all grain and animal products both safely and efficiently, to meet our customer needs.
As this is the industry George Varney began in, we were one of the first independent TASCC registered haulers in the county. We are highly established and reputable within this haulage division, and have maintained this professional recognition throughout the years.
Our parent company, Fred Sherwood Group, also has initial roots in farm produce. Fred Sherwood himself was a farmer who began moving his own and local produce in the 1920’s. Therefore, we have an in-depth understanding of what our grain customers need, and work closely with them, to drive both our business’s forward; making us the most suitable and experienced hauler for the job.
AGGREGATES & OTHER COMMODITIES
Aggregates and other dry commodities can be expertly transported through our comprehensive nationwide network of vehicles.
The Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC), establishes and maintains standards to create a safe, competent and sustainable work environment in the mineral products industry.
All our drivers have completed the MPQC safety training and hold a MPQC card. This card is a recognized accredited standard, and is a requirement of contractors that access quarry sites.
These cards are renewed every 3 years, via refresher training, so our drivers are updated on the most safe practices and we can operate safely within the industry as a company.
WASTE CARRIER LICENCES
At George Varney’s, we posses a upper tier waste carriers license, for the movement of dry waste materials; predominately Pulverized Fuel Ash (PFA) which is heavily used throughout the construction industry.
Due to our extensive network, it allows our team to expertly direct quality products to manufacturing and major infrastructure projects throughout the construction industry.
Despite this not being a large proportion of our work, we are authorized to transport waste, and will conduct this movement responsibly and safely for our customers on demand.
Other members in our company group are industry leaders in the waste and recycling industry, so our team has additional support as and when required.
